"Making an art of the business of communicating"
-- Paula Newbaker
Paula Newbaker is a unique find in today’s integrated – and morphing – communications industry because of her diverse background and ability to succeed in a variety of communications positions. She has worked for boutique PR firms, U.S. government agencies, energy corporations, trade associations, nonprofits and think-tanks. She excels at results-based grassroots efforts, branding, new media, and targeted communications.

Her creative and strategic strengths include executing time-sensitive and long-term programs; raising awareness for broad-based initiatives; writing; audio and video production; media relations; crisis communications; public affairs; special events; and advertising and marketing copywriting.

By helping drive media and constituent interest, her work has propelled organizations to new heights of visibility on the local, national and international levels. Paula, for example, has worked with prominent broadcast professionals and global Web-based outlets, from advocating for the indictment of Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir for humanitarian war crimes, to promoting the economic benefits of the railroad industry and intermodal transportation to build national awareness during critical times.

Paula is a Magna Cum Laude graduate of The University of Pittsburgh.

What Makes Paula the Professional She Is?

“Kudos on this release of the video series. This is among the very best we’ve seen and I am delighted at how well the work of the company was integrated into the very creative story line of the video. Again, I say kudos and bravo, too!” – Potomac Electric Power  Company, after the release of a series of employee videos

“Paula provided outstanding support in the organization of the 8th meeting of NOAA’s [National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration] Advisory Committee on Commercial Remote Sensing (ACCRES) held at the Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center.” – Kay E. Weston, chief, Satellite Activities Branch International & Interagency Affairs Office

“As a broadcaster for 45 years -- 37 of them specifically in broadcast journalism -- I can only say that Paula is a true professional. She repeatedly demonstrated an understanding of the requirements of my job, and knew right where to go to supply me with the information I needed.” – Wes Vernon, former CBS Radio Reporter

Winner of the Public Relations Society of America’s Silver Anvil for the Association of American Railroads (AAR).

In addition to her PR background, her experience includes work in radio, television, newspaper and advertising as a reporter, producer, talent and writer. In her spare time, she is a performer and has sung in the annual Funniest Celebrity in Washington Contest, at the Kennedy Center, and in international venues with the Choral Arts Society of Washington, and on various radio stations and Web sites as voiceover talent.
